About this tool
Convert Preeti to Unicode in three steps
- Copy the Nepali text from your Word file or old document. Outside Preeti it looks like English letters, for example g]kfn.
- Paste it into the Preeti box. The Unicode box fills in straight away: नेपाल.
- Check the result, fix anything by hand if needed, and press Copy Unicode.
What the converter handles
It follows the standard Preeti key layout: all letters, half letters, joined letters such as क्ष, त्र, ज्ञ and श्र, vowel signs, Nepali digits and punctuation. It also puts the short i sign (ि) and the reph (र्) in the right place, which Preeti types in a different order from Unicode.
Unicode to Preeti
Press Unicode to Preeti to go the other way, for example when a press or an office still asks for Preeti. Paste the result into Word and apply the Preeti font. English letters and English digits are left as they are, because Preeti has no keys for them.

Common questions
What is the difference between Preeti and Unicode?
Preeti is an old Nepali font that shows Nepali shapes for English keys, so the text underneath is really Latin letters. Unicode stores real Devanagari characters, so the text reads correctly on any phone, website, email or form without a special font.
Why convert Preeti to Unicode?
Text typed in Preeti turns into meaningless English letters when it is pasted into email, Facebook, a website or an online form. Converting it to Unicode makes it readable everywhere and searchable.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser and the text never leaves your device.
Does it work for Kantipur and other fonts?
Yes. Choose Kantipur, Sagarmatha, PCS Nepali or Fontasy Himali in the Font menu before you paste. Preeti is the most thoroughly tested, so read the result for the other fonts before using it.
Why are a few letters wrong after converting?
Usually the original was typed with a different font, or it contains a rare joined letter. Fix those by hand in the Unicode box; you can edit it before copying.
Can I convert Unicode back to Preeti?
Yes. Press Unicode to Preeti, paste your Unicode text and copy the result. It will look like English letters until you apply the Preeti font to it.
