How to use
Write an amount in words for a cheque or bill
- Type the amount in digits, for example 125000.50.
- Keep Amount in rupees selected for money. Choose Plain number for anything else, such as a quantity or a roll number.
- Press Copy beside the version you need and paste it into your cheque form, bill, voucher or letter.
The digits after the decimal point are read as paisa. Nothing you type leaves your device.

Questions about writing numbers in words
How do I write an amount in words in Nepali?
Type the amount in digits above and choose Amount in rupees. The tool writes it in Nepali words the way it goes on a cheque or bill, starting with रुपैयाँ and ending with मात्र. For example, 1,25,000 is रुपैयाँ एक लाख पच्चिस हजार मात्र.
How is 1 lakh written in numbers and in words?
One lakh is 1,00,000, which is one hundred thousand. In Nepali it is एक लाख. Ten lakh is 10,00,000, the same as one million.
How much is 1 crore, 1 arab and 1 kharab?
One crore is 1,00,00,000 (ten million). One arab is 1,00,00,00,000 (one billion). One kharab is 1,00,00,00,00,000 (one hundred billion).
What is the difference between lakh, crore and million, billion?
Nepal groups digits as three, then two, two, two: thousand, lakh, crore, arab, kharab. The international system groups in threes: thousand, million, billion, trillion. The tool shows both, so you can copy whichever your document needs.
How are paisa written in words?
Paisa are the two digits after the decimal point. 1,500.50 is written Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred and Paisa Fifty Only, or रुपैयाँ एक हजार पाँच सय र पैसा पचास मात्र in Nepali.
Why does it write तिन and बिस and not तीन and बीस?
The Nepali words follow the current standard spelling used in the Unicode language data for Nepali, which writes these numbers with the short vowel. Older documents often use the long vowel. Both are read the same way; if your office follows the older spelling, change those letters after you paste.
Can I type the number in Nepali digits?
Yes. You can type १२५००० or 125000, with or without commas.
What is the largest number it can convert?
Up to 99 kharab, which is 13 digits (99,99,99,99,99,999).
