About BBPDF, free PDF tools from Nepal

BBPDF is a free set of PDF tools by Bikram Bhujel, an infrastructure and systems engineer in Nepal. You can merge, split, compress and convert PDF files, read scanned pages with OCR, and bring a PDF or photo under the size limit of an online form. The work is done in your browser, so your files stay on your device and are not uploaded to a server. That matters for documents such as citizenship copies, bank statements, contracts and payslips.

Compress a PDF to 200 KB for online forms in Nepal

Many online application forms in Nepal accept only small files for a scanned citizenship certificate, academic certificates, a photo and a signature. The limit is different on every form, so read it on the form first. Then open Compress to 200 KB, type that limit and download the smaller PDF. For a photo or a signature that has to stay a JPG, use Compress Photo to KB.

If you only have photos of the pages, join them with Images to PDF first. If a long PDF will not fit, split it or extract only the pages the form needs.

OCR for English and Nepali documents

OCR PDF reads the text in a scanned PDF or a photo and saves it as a text file or as a searchable PDF. It understands English, Nepali and Hindi, and it also runs in your browser. Use a clear, straight scan and check the result against the original before you rely on it.

Common questions

Are my PDF files uploaded anywhere?

No. Every tool on this page runs in your browser, so the files stay on your phone or computer. Nothing is sent to a server, which is why it is safe to use with citizenship copies, bank statements and contracts.

How do I compress a PDF to 200 KB?

Open Compress to 200 KB, choose your PDF, leave the limit at 200 or type the limit your form asks for, then press the button. The tool lowers the image quality step by step until the file fits, and tells you if the file cannot get that small.

Can I reduce a photo or signature to 50 KB or 100 KB?

Yes. Open Compress Photo to KB, add the photo, type the limit and download the JPG. You can add several photos at once.

How do I turn photos of a document into one PDF?

Open Images to PDF, add the photos in page order and choose A4. You get one PDF with one photo per page. If the result is too large for your form, run it through Compress to 200 KB.

Does the OCR tool read Nepali?

Yes. Choose Nepali, or Nepali and English, before you start. It reads printed Devanagari text from a scan or a photo. Clear, straight scans give the best result, and handwriting is usually not read well, so always check the text against the original.

Why can I not select text after compressing?

Medium and Strong compression, Compress to 200 KB and Grayscale save every page as a picture, because that is what makes a scan much smaller. If you need the text to stay selectable, use the Light setting in Compress PDF.

Can I use it with a password-protected PDF?

Not directly. Remove the password first, for example by opening the file with its password and printing it to a new PDF, then use that copy here.

Is it free, and does it work on a phone?

It is free, with no sign-up and no watermark on your files. It works in a current mobile browser. Very large PDFs are easier on a computer because your own device does the work.
